On July 20, 2024, The Silk Way Flavor Fest: Baku Edition International Chefs' Competition, organized in collaboration with WorldSkills Azerbaijan Public Union and the Culinary Arts Center of Azerbaijan (CÀSÀ), concluded after three days of intense competition from July 17 to 19, 2024. The event was part of the EU-funded "VET for the Future" project and saw the participation of chefs from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.

A total of eight competitors vied for top honors, with Kamal Aghayev from CÀSÀ securing first place, followed by Alexandra Kolpakova from Kazakhstan and Nazanin Israilova from Uzbekistan in second, and Rufat Zeynalov from Azerbaijan and Mustariy Hasanova from Uzbekistan in third.

Kelvin Chong, Director of CÀSÀ, shared his thoughts: “We are proud of Kamal Aghayev’s remarkable achievement and hope that the government will continue to support and organize such competitions to encourage more participants. We look forward to seeing Kamal excel in the upcoming WorldSkills Competition in September.”

The competition aimed to enhance national team preparation for the 47th International WorldSkills Competition, boost interest in vocational education, and promote international best practices. It marked the first international event hosted by the WorldSkills Azerbaijan platform, establishing Azerbaijan as a pioneer in hosting such competitions.
